Position: EHS Specialist

Job Summary

This is a position with responsibilities in the areas of Safety and Regulatory for Whitaker Oil Company to ensure we safely take care of our employees, customers and comply with regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with management, supervisors, and employees on maintaining a sustainable safety culture in concert with Company goals and objectives.
  • Assist with ensuring all Safety and Regulatory training is conducted, documented, and effective.
  • Conduct training on HM126F, Lockout/Tagout, Hazardous Waste, Emergency Response, etc.
  • Coordinate and/or conduct training in Hazard Communication, Forklift, Emergency Contingency Plans, etc.
  • Review all accidents and assist the locations in investigating accidents and/or near misses and developing corrective action plans.
  • Assist EHS Manager to ensure locations are in compliance with all regulatory requirements through training, audits, etc.
  • Conduct proper internal safety/regulatory audits of each location on an annual basis.
  • Assist locations in completing and updating Lockout/Tagout information, and emergency contingency plans.
  • Review driver logs monthly to ensure correctness.
  • Ensure driver qualification files are up to date for each location.
  • Assist and monitor NACD Responsible Distribution.
  • Assist with Emergency Response situations that occur within the company or as needed.
  • Support and participate in safety meetings and safety committee meetings at each branch.
  • Assist EHS Manager to ensure all facility monitoring reports required are completed and forwarded to the proper agency.
  • Assist with regulatory programs such as OSHA, EPA, EPD, TTB, DOT, site security plans, and other programs as applicable.
  • Assist with inspections and ensure that any discrepancies noted are reported to management and corrected.
  • Other responsibilities as designated by management.

Qualification Requirements

  • College degree in Safety, Health, Environmental, or related field.
  • Experience in a chemical or related industry that must comply with OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations is a plus.
  • Thorough understanding of the importance of customer service and the ability to work cooperatively with other branches, departments, and personnel in meeting customer needs.
  • Ability to interface well with customers.
  • Ability to interface and communicate in a professional manner with diverse employee groups including sales, management, supervisors and employees.
  • Ability to interface and communicate in a professional manner (oral and written).
  • Ability to understand and comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Strong desire to succeed and lead.

Pay: Based on experience.

Location: Atlanta, GA

Position Type: Full-Time/Regular Monday – Friday, 7:00 am – 4:30pm

Must Pass: Background Check, Pre-Employment Drug Test and Physical Exam.

  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move objects 10-50 pounds.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Occasionally required to sit and climb or balance.
  • Specific vision abilities required for this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
